When you join Ames, you’re joining a company built for long-term success — where skilled people, strong teams, and disciplined execution come together to build careers and a better future.Essential Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment in field environments.</li><li>Perform preventative maintenance services, inspections, and repairs on equipment and support vehicles.</li><li>Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrain components, electrical systems, and undercarriage components.</li><li>Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency service calls at project sites.</li><li>Complete equipment inspections and document repair and maintenance activities.</li><li>Work closely with operators, foremen, superintendents, and equipment managers to identify and resolve equipment issues.</li><li>Maintain service trucks, tools, parts inventory, and equipment maintenance records.</li><li>Perform welding, fabrication, and component replacement as needed.</li><li>Conduct equipment safety inspections and ensure compliance with company safety standards.</li><li>Assist with equipment mobilization, setup, and commissioning on new projects.</li><li>Maintain a high level of professionalism while working independently at remote project locations.</li><li>Participate in safety meetings, training, and company programs.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Preferred Equipment ExperienceCandidates with experience maintaining and repairing the following equipment are strongly preferred:<ul><li>Caterpillar (Cat) Excavators, Dozers, Loaders, Motor Graders, Rollers, and Haul Trucks</li><li>John Deere Excavators, Dozers, Loaders, and Articulated Trucks</li><li>Crushers and Screening Plants</li><li>Paving and Asphalt Equipment</li><li>Skid Steers and Compact Equipment</li><li>Service Trucks and Support Equipment</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Minimum of 3–5 years of heavy construction equipment maintenance and repair experience preferred.</li><li>Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.</li><li>Experience with Cat and John Deere equipment is highly preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and powertrain systems.</li><li>Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information.</li><li>Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.</li><li>Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.</li><li>Ability to work independently with limited supervision.</li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills.</li></ul>Travel Requirements<ul><li>This is primarily a remote, field-based position.</li><li>Extensive travel is required.</li><li>Must be willing to travel to multiple project locations and work away from home for extended periods as project demands require.</li><li>Overnight travel should be expected.</li><li>Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and emergency repair calls when necessary.</li></ul>Physical Requirements<ul><li>Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.</li><li>Ability to climb on and around heavy equipment.</li><li>Stand, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined spaces.</li><li>Work outdoors in all weather conditions.</li><li>Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.</li></ul>Safety Requirements<ul><li>Follow all company safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Wear required PPE at all times.</li><li>Maintain a safe and organized work environment.</li><li>Report unsafe conditions and equipment defects immediately.</li><li>Participate in required safety meetings and training.</li></ul> Ames Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
