<h2>Overview</h2>
<p>AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a <strong>100% employee-owned</strong> federal government contractor, is currently searching for <strong>part-time Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) Specialists</strong> to join our team in support of United States border security operations.</p>
<h2>Responsibilities</h2>
<p>As a <strong>part-time </strong><strong>UGS Specialist</strong>, you will have the opportunity to do the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Provide part-time support for operational requirements.</li>
<li>Maintain familiarity with sensor capabilities and applications in border security operations.</li>
<li>Assist in the inventory, deployment, and maintenance of UGS systems in diverse terrains and conditions.</li>
<li>Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance, including alignment, inspection, and sensor testing.</li>
<li>Provide technical assistance during UGS operations and train team members in system use and maintenance.</li>
<li>Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, replace hardware components, troubleshoot software, and verify corrections.</li>
<li>Follow established safety procedures for all maintenance and operations.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational guidelines in all activities.</li>
<li>Maintain detailed records of deployments, maintenance, and system performance, and compile data for reports.</li>
<li>Manage accountability for system components, including hardware, software, and spare parts.</li>
<li>Maintain diagnostic and operational tools, support equipment, and test systems.</li>
<li>Collaborate with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel to align operational objectives and ensure proper reporting.</li>
<li>Contribute to the development and implementation of new UGS technologies and strategies.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Qualifications</h2>
<ul>
<li>Active <strong>CBP BI or TOP SECRET</strong> clearance required to be considered.</li>
<li><strong>U.S. Citizenship Required (</strong>for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance)</li>
<li><strong>Associate’s degree</strong> in electronics, telecommunications, <strong>or a related field or equivalent military or law enforcement training.</strong></li>
<li>Minimum of <strong>5 years of experience with unattended ground sensors (UGS) or similar technologies</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Technical knowledge</strong> of various types of <strong>UGS (seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors)</strong>. Understanding of individual components of UGS systems (power supplies, communication modules, and sensor elements).</li>
<li>Proficiency in sensor <strong>collection, processing, and data transmission</strong>.</li>
<li>Understanding of wireless communication, encryption and security, and AI with Image Recognition.</li>
<li>Knowledge of best practices for sensor emplacement, site selection, and concealment.</li>
<li>Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, and using software tools for data visualization.</li>
<li>Knowledge of <strong>integrating UGS with other security systems to ensure interoperability</strong>.</li>
<li>Understanding of the <strong>geographical and environmental conditions</strong> in deployment areas and<strong> techniques for adapting to these conditions.</strong></li>
<li>Knowledge of <strong>relevant laws and regulations governing UGS use</strong> and adherence to safety protocols.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Physical and Travel Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ability to work in <strong>challenging and remote environments</strong>, including <strong>rugged terrain and adverse weather</strong> conditions.</li>
<li><strong>Physical endurance</strong> to perform tasks that may involve <strong>lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment over long distances</strong>.</li>
<li>Capacity to <strong>perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining high levels of focus and accuracy</strong>.</li>
<li>Willingness to<strong> travel frequently</strong> and be <strong>deployed for extended periods</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Scheduled work</strong> for this regular part-time role will average between<strong> 20 to 32 hours per week</strong>.</li>

<h2>Pay Transparency Statement</h2>AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $57.00/Yr. - USD $70/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
