Join us and make a difference too!Job Title: AMAS Compliance & HSE ManagerLocation: Reston, Virginia or NYC (Must be able to travel to the office in one of these locations 4 times a month and as needed) About the role: We are looking for an Americas Compliance & HSE Manager to join BSI on a full-time, permanent basis, reporting to the Group Head of Compliance, Ethics & HSE.This is a senior regional role responsible for the deployment, management, and continual improvement of BSI’s Compliance and HSE programmes across the Americas. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will represent the function at leadership level, maintain key ISO certifications, and play a central role in promoting a strong culture of ethics, safety, and integrity.The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery and is well suited to someone confident operating in complex, regulated, multinational environments. Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Deploy and maintain BSI’s Compliance and HSE Management Systems across the Americas, ensuring continued certification to ISO 37001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.</li><li>Lead regional audits, inspections, monitoring, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with Group standards and local legislation.</li><li>Develop and deliver the Americas Compliance & HSE plan in partnership with regional leadership.</li><li>Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior leaders, including participation in the Americas Leadership Council.</li><li>Lead accident, incident, and compliance investigations, implementing effective preventative measures.</li><li>Maintain oversight of risk assessments, safe systems of work, and occupational health guidance.</li><li>Produce regular reporting on incidents, audits, and compliance performance for senior leadership and Group.</li><li>Identify regulatory risks and compliance gaps, engaging stakeholders to drive mitigation actions.</li><li>Lead and develop the regional Compliance & HSE team, including budget ownership and capability development.</li><li>Implement and oversee global Travel Risk Management for the Americas region.</li><li>Act as a key member of the Americas Crisis Management Team.</li></ul> Training, Culture & Engagement:<ul><li>Design and deliver engaging compliance, ethics, and HSE training across the region.</li><li>Lead awareness campaigns and change initiatives that strengthen ethical conduct and safety culture.</li><li>Coach and support leaders and teams to embed compliance and HSE principles into day-to-day operations.</li></ul> To be successful in the role, you will have:<ul><li>A degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or equivalent professional HSE qualification.</li><li>At least 5 years’ experience in HSE and compliance roles, ideally within high-risk or highly regulated environments.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 37001 (or similar compliance frameworks).</li><li>Experience managing risk, crisis response, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.</li><li>Proven leadership capability, including team management and budget responsibility.</li><li>Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior leaders.</li><li>Strong communication skills and a proactive, improvement-focused mindset.</li></ul>BSI offers a competitive salary, group-sponsored health and dental, short-term and long-term disability, a company-matched 401k plan, company paid life insurance, 11 paid holidays and 4 weeks paid time off.Do you believe the world deserves excellence?We are proud to be the business improvement company helping organisations become more sustainable and resilient — inspiring trust in their products, systems, services, and the world we live in.Headquartered in London, BSI is the world's first national standards organization with more than 100 years of experience.
