<h2>Overview</h2> SimVentions, consistently voted one of Virginia's Best Places to Work, is looking for an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join our Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) in Dahlgren, VA. In this full-time, on-base role, you will develop detailed test plans and cases tied to requirements, execute manual and automated testing across multiple levels, and collaborate with developers and government customers to identify and resolve software defects. The ideal candidate has an applied math or physics degree with at least some coding experience/education and at least 1+ years of software/systems testing experience, proficiency in test automation and Linux environments, strong requirements traceability skills, and excellent communication abilities for daily customer interaction and occasional technical presentations. U.S. citizenship is required, as well as willingness to work 5 days/week on-site at NSWC-Dahlgren.  <h2>Travel</h2><5% <h2>Clearance</h2> An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance. <h2>Requirements</h2> <ul> <li>2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects</li> <li>1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience</li> <li>Familiarity reviewing C++ code</li> <li>Experience using Linux systems</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues</li> <li>Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers</li> <li>Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision</li> </ul> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks</li> <li>Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements</li> <li>Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)</li> <li>Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools</li> <li>Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution</li> <li>Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback</li> <li>Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities</li> <li>Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily</li> <li>Occasionally present technical testing documentation</li> </ul> <h2>Preferred Skills and Experience</h2> <ul> <li>Prior NSWCDD or other DoD lab experience</li> <li>U.S. Navy fleet experience with weapons or combat systems (Aegis, Tomahawk, etc.)</li> <li>Formal Qualification Testing (FQT), Verification & Validation (V&V), or shipboard software testing background</li> <li>Expertise with DOORS, Jira, Azure DevOps, Git, or similar tools</li> <li>Familiarity with Configuration Management processes and CCB support</li> <li>Experience testing real-time or safety-critical systems</li> </ul> <h2>Education</h2>BS degree in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics is required. <h2>Compensation</h2> Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.   The projected annual compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $98,000 (USD).
