<p><b>About us</b></p><p>Ultra-Pure Water+ division of Ecolab is an engineering company specialized in ultrapure water (UPW) treatment systems.</p><p>Our Digital Innovation team is building a new capability in autonomous robotics, and we're hiring the first <b>Robotics Software Engineer </b>to join a small, senior team of software and computer-vision engineers.</p><p>Joining Ultra-Pure Water+ means being part of a global team of innovative and passionate professionals who are committed to preserving water, our planet's most critical resource. It also means combining our efforts and talents towards a more sustainable future – together.</p><p>The role is based in Witterswil, Solothurn (Basel Area), Switzerland, with good public transport connection (Tram 10) and free car parking.</p><p></p><p><b>What you'll do</b></p><ul><li>Design and build the software that controls a mobile robot platform operating autonomously in an industrial facility, integrating a commercial mobile base and sensors via vendor SDKs.</li><li>Develop navigation, localization, and motion-planning capabilities (ROS/ROS2, Nav2, MoveIt2 or equivalent) for safe operation around people.</li><li>Bring up and debug hardware end-to-end: mechanical, electrical, and software.</li><li>Apply sound engineering judgment on robot safety for equipment operating near employees.</li><li>Set the robotics architecture and practices the team will build on as it grows, and own delivery of the first working prototype.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What you bring</b></p><ul><li>3+ years of robotics software engineering experience, including at least one robot taken from development into real-world pilot or production operation.</li><li>Strong hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 (or equivalent), including navigation and/or motion-planning stacks.</li><li>Experience integrating commercial robot hardware via vendor SDKs, including bring-up and real-world debugging.</li><li>Strong C++ and/or Python skills, with good engineering practices for building reliable systems around physical hardware.</li><li>A pragmatic, hands-on, largely autonomous working style, comfortable being the only robotics specialist on the team.</li><li>Fluent English, spoken and written.</li><li>A valid Swiss, EU/EFTA, or cross-border commuter (G) work permit.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Nice to have</b></p><ul><li>Experience in computer vision (camera calibration, 3D reconstruction, hand-eye calibration).</li><li>Background in industrial automation or manufacturing quality.</li><li>Familiarity with mechanical CAD data.</li><li>A degree in robotics, mechatronics, or a related engineering field.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What we offer</b></p><p>Real ownership of a new robotics capability from the ground up, in a small, experienced engineering team.</p><p></p><p>#li-eu</p>
