Job Profile Summary: Provides routine facilities operations support for a department based on established policies and procedures.Job Description:Facilities Development and Management Central Plant seeks an Energy Management Specialist to perform work of a complex nature when operating, maintaining, and programming energy management and building automation systems.Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Essential Duties:<ul><li>Support Central Plants Control system and all other control systems associated with the plant.</li><li>Monitor and adjust all systems to meet comfort levels.</li><li>Evaluate systems for effective energy usage and conservation; make, adjust, repair, replace as needed.</li><li>Use software and hardware in computers and microprocessors for system troubleshooting, adjustment, and repair.</li><li>Modify existing systems and programs, troubleshooting, and maintenance for the objective of creating an optimum system of operation.</li><li>Perform database uploads and downloads to provide DDC controllers with current programs.</li><li>Operate and monitor computer control system equipment. Detect source and nature of system problems.</li><li>Make adjustments to change operating parameters of the system due to emergencies, malfunctions, and change requirements or to optimize operations.</li><li>Perform emergency corrections to neutralize alarm conditions and restore proper operation.</li><li>Verify correct system and control sequence operations.</li><li>May perform scheduled and unscheduled remote start and stop of equipment.</li><li>Update air handlers' schedules upon request for air conditioning services.</li><li>Review, modify, and implement programming changes to building automation system to ensure efficient and effective system operations and conformance with standards and guidelines.</li><li>Calibrate, repair, and replace building automation system sensing devices to specifications.</li><li>May dispatch trouble calls to appropriate personnel to respond to customer needs.</li><li>Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work order requirements.</li><li>Troubleshoot power supplies, controllers, transducers, transmitters, flow meters, sensors, actuators, and take corrective actions.</li><li>Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.</li><li>Communicate to perform the essential functions of the job.</li></ul>DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.This position is located at the Tempe campus but will require working at other ASU Arizona campus locations based on program need.Salary Ranges:EMS Technician I: $28.50 – $36.50 per hour.
