The Senior Consultant serves as a primary point of contact for clients, collaborates with cross-functional tax teams, and provides guidance and review for Consultants on the team. Work may require time onsite with clients and coordination with technical, engineering, financial, and tax personnel.<br><br>This is a Hybrid role in Houston, TX or Dallas, TX with 10% of less travel required.<p></p><p><b>Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results</b></p><p></p><p><b>People</b></p><ul><li><p>Creates a positive team experience by serving as a role model and supporting team development.</p></li><li><p>Provides coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to Consultants, including technical guidance, data analysis techniques, and project methodology.</p></li><li><p>Reviews work performed by Consultants to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project standards.</p></li><li><p>Facilitates knowledge sharing and contributes to process improvement across the practice.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Client</b></p><ul><li><p>Leads client interviews with technical, engineering, finance, and tax personnel to gather information relevant to incentive qualification.</p></li><li><p>Serves as a primary point of contact for client workstreams, ensuring timely, clear communication and outstanding client service.</p></li><li><p>Responds to client requests and manages expectations throughout the engagement cycle.</p></li><li><p>Participates in client meetings to present findings, methodologies, and tax positions.</p></li><li><p>Develops and supports client proposals, planning strategies, and deliverable presentations.</p></li><li><p>Collaborates with Federal Income Tax, International Tax, and other Ryan practice groups to support integrated client solutions.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Value</b></p><ul><li><p>Leads the gathering, organization, and analysis of large volumes of financial, technical, engineering, and operational data; creates or reviews complex calculation models and databases.</p></li><li><span>Performs and reviews tax law research, technical writing, and compliance documentation supporting tax positions, including incentive qualification under applicable Internal Revenue Code sections (e.g., Sections 179D, 45L, and Section 45).</span></li><li><span>Analyzes engineering documentation, construction drawings, and qualifying design activities for compliance under a variety of tax incentive programs, including 179D credits and other Federal income tax planning projects.</span></li><li><p>Supports and may lead audit defense activities, including responding to IRS and state inquiries, preparing documentation packages, and assisting managers with strategy.</p></li><li><p>Prepares and reviews memorandums, interview reports, tax incentive calculations, and other project deliverables prior to manager review.</p></li><li><p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Education and Experience:</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction-related fields</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate a strong understanding of tax knowledge as pertaining to the 179D tax deduction and various sustainability/clean energy incentives </p></li><li><p>Four-year college degree from an accredited institution in practice-relevant area with 3+ years practice-relevant experience.</p></li><li><p>Must have excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn and be a team player. </p></li><li><p>Strong analytical, communication, writing, and project coordination skills.</p></li><li><p>Proven ability to manage workstreams, lead client interactions, and review team deliverables.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Experience:</b></p><ul><li><p>Develop and maintain relationships with a revolving list of clients in the AEC industry </p></li><li><p>Demonstrate strong inter- and intra-personal skills </p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate with C-suite, CPA, Principal, and Professional Architecture/Engineers on a variety of industry-specific topics. </p></li><li><p>Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management background/degree a strong plus </p></li><li><p>Strong organizational and time-management skills required </p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Computer Skills: </b></p><ul><li><p>Advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based research tools.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with legal/technical tax research platforms preferred.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Certificates and Licenses: </b></p><p>Valid driver’s license required. </p><p></p><p><b>Supervisory Responsibilities: </b></p><p>Requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including training peers and checking work for accuracy and completeness. </p><p></p><p><span><span><i>Equal Opportunity Employer: disability/veteran</i></span></span><br /> </p><p><span>#LI-MK1 </span></p>
