About This Role
<p><b>Primary responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Learn IBM i application development, including RPG IV/ILE, free-format RPG, CL, Db2 for i SQL, IBM i objects, and approved development tools.</li><li>Review and trace existing RPG, SQL, CL, database, batch, and interactive application logic to understand behavior and affected areas.</li><li>Implement clearly defined, low-risk defect corrections, maintenance changes, test improvements, and small enhancements under technical guidance.</li><li>Write understandable and maintainable code, create and execute unit tests, and document changes, business rules, test evidence, and implementation considerations.</li><li>Participate in peer code reviews, Agile ceremonies, estimation discussions, demonstrations, and retrospectives.</li><li>Apply review feedback and communicate progress, risks, and blockers promptly.</li><li>Follow secure-development, data-privacy, quality, release-management, source-control, and change-control standards for regulated healthcare software.</li><li>Use approved AI-assisted tools responsibly and independently validate generated analysis, code, documentation, and tests.</li><li>Progressively assist with deployment validation and production-support activities after demonstrating readiness and receiving required access and approvals.</li></ul><p></p><h2>Minimum qualifications</h2><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent technical education, certification, structured training, or practical experience.</li><li>Zero to one year of professional software-development experience.</li><li>Relevant education, training, coursework, certification, or project experience may substitute for professional experience.</li><li>Foundational programming ability in at least one structured programming language.</li><li>Basic understanding of variables, logic, loops, procedures, debugging, error handling, and testing.</li><li>Basic knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.</li><li>Ability to read existing code, trace program logic, and break a defined problem into manageable steps with guidance.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, testable, standards-aligned, and documented work.</li><li>Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional software-development team.</li><li>Willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, document learning, and continuously develop technical skills.</li></ul>
