Citi is looking for a skilled Java Developer to join our Technology team and play a key role in building, maintaining, and advancing enterprise-grade shared services that underpin critical financial operations at global scale. In this role, you will design and deliver high-performance Java-based solutions within a high-throughput computing environment, working closely with cross-functional technology teams to drive application stability and reliability. This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful technical challenges, mentor junior colleagues, and operate as a subject matter expert within a collaborative, performance-driven engineering environment.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Design, develop, and implement enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot, Apache Camel, and related open-source technologies to meet complex business and system requirements.</li><li>Build and maintain messaging and integration layers using JMS, WebSphere MQ, and TIBCO EMS to support high-volume, low-latency transaction processing.</li><li>Lead application analysis, performance tuning, and measurement activities to ensure systems meet reliability and throughput standards in production environments.</li><li>Manage Tier 3 production support, diagnosing and resolving critical issues using tools such as Thread Dump Analyser and Memory Analyser Tool to minimize service disruption.</li><li>Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle — from requirements analysis and design through to testing, deployment, and post-implementation review — within an Agile delivery model.</li><li>Implement and recommend security measures during post-deployment analysis to protect system integrity and ensure continued functionality.</li><li>Act as a technical advisor to senior stakeholders and less experienced team members, setting engineering standards and guiding development practices across the team.</li><li>Assess technical and operational risk when making development decisions, ensuring solutions align with compliance requirements and safeguard the integrity of Citi's systems and clients.</li></ul><h2>Required Qualifications & Skills</h2><ul><li>5+ years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining enterprise shared services, with demonstrable expertise in Java 8, Spring Boot, and MongoDB.</li><li>Proficiency with messaging and integration technologies including Apache Camel, JMS, WebSphere MQ, TIBCO EMS, and OSGi, applied within large-scale, high-transactional environments.</li><li>Practical knowledge of RESTful API development, SSL, and Git-based source control workflows.</li><li>Working knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and OpenShift, for deploying and managing application workloads.</li><li>Experience operating within Agile development lifecycles, including sprint planning, iterative delivery, and continuous integration practices.</li><li>Proficiency with DevOps tooling, including GitHub, uDeploy, and SonarQube, to support build automation, deployment, and code quality management.</li><li>Solid SQL knowledge with the ability to query, analyse, and troubleshoot relational data sources effectively.</li><li>Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.</li></ul><h2>Beneficial Skills & Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Familiarity with critical-situation diagnostic tools such as Samurai and Thread Dump Analyser (TDA) for advanced JVM troubleshooting.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Linux command-line administration, particularly on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.</li><li>Prior experience with Lightspeed CI/CD pipelines or equivalent enterprise deployment platforms.</li></ul><h2>What We Offer</h2>At Citi, you will work on technology that directly supports global financial services at scale.
